Questions people ask before they book
Quotes, turnaround, live direction, formats, revisions and the AI policy — the practical answers.
How do I get a quote?
Send the script, let us know what it's for (market size, the platform it will run on — TV, radio, internet — and how long it will run) and when you need it, through the contact page or by phone at 260-220-3020. You'll get a quote and a delivery time back directly from Dave, usually within the business day. Rates depend on usage, length and turnaround, which is why there's no price list on the site — but you'll always know the number before anything is recorded.
What's the turnaround?
Same-day is the norm for standard work sent during studio hours (Monday–Friday, 9am–4pm ET). Rush is usually possible; long-form narration is scheduled by length. Say what the deadline is and you'll get a straight yes or no.
Can I direct the session live?
Yes. The studio runs Source Connect Pro for broadcast-quality remote direction, and a phone patch works for quick sessions. Many clients simply send the script with a brief and a reference clip and review takes afterwards — either way is fine.
What do I get back, and in what format?
Broadcast-ready files in whatever your workflow needs: WAV (44.1 or 48 kHz, 16 or 24-bit) or MP3 by default, telephony formats for IVR, split and named by section for long scripts.
How do revisions work?
Directly with Dave — there's no agent, booking desk or studio manager in between. A changed word, a different attitude, a faster pace: send it and the new take comes back, usually the same day. Pickups for script changes after approval are quoted separately; fixes for a misread are not.
Do you work with agencies and production companies?
Constantly. Agency-spec sessions read to the creative brief, directed live if you want, revised in real time. Ask for the reads split into separate files, slates on or off, and any alt lines the client might want to choose from.
Where is the studio, and do you work with clients outside the area?
The studio is in Fort Wayne, Indiana, just south of Chicago and north of Indianapolis. Files go out digitally to stations, agencies and production houses across the world. Location doesn't change the process.
Can we use the recordings to train AI or clone the voice?
No. Every recording is delivered under the site's Terms and Conditions, which prohibit using Dave's voice, likeness or recordings for AI or machine-learning training, text-to-speech, voice cloning, "digital doubles" or any synthetic media. That applies to clients, their vendors and anyone downstream.
What about character and game work?
Yes — Dave voices Cassette Man (Henry Emily) in Freddy Fazbear's Pizzeria Simulator, and does character and animation work alongside the commercial and promo roster. Send the slides and a description of the character.
How do clients receive files?
Through the Steele Imaging client portal — each client gets a login, a folder, version history and download links — or by email/transfer link for one-off projects. Radio stations on a regular imaging schedule get notified automatically when a new batch lands in their folder.
Do you offer a demo in my format before I book?
Usually there's already a piece in the library that's close — station imaging in your format, a promo for your sport, a narration in your industry. The portfolio has most of it; if you don't find what you need, ask and Dave will point you to something or read a short sample.
